CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- A closer look reveals more potential issues at The Citadel.

Tuesday, The Citadel released more pages of an internal study performed by the college from January to July of this year.

The review involved six different panels. Each panel was charged with looking into what were described as The Citadel's most glaring challenges.

The report said the biggest issue was identified by the panel on sexual assault and harassment. This panel was highly critical of The Citadel's procedures on youth related programs.

The review read in part:

"The panel cannot stress enough how concerned we are about the risk of future incidents of sexual assault by Citadel students, staff or faculty. Based on information reviewed, we believe The Citadel is an incident waiting to happen."

To better protect minors on campus, the report recommended all employees, campus residents, students and volunteers receive Darkness to Light, stewards of children training.

Upon releasing this report, and concerning its details, The Citadel also said the elements of the panel reports, "should not be construed as findings, but as the impressions of those interviewed, or of the panelists."

Likewise, college officials say addressing these issues will be a top priority.

"I think we've turned our sexual assault reporting and awareness through education and training, into one of the top programs in the state," said Citadel President, Lt. Gen. John Rosa. "What I can tell you is that sexual assault is one of the most under-reported violent crimes."

The report applauded The Citadel's effort to strengthen its response to sexual assault.

Panelists found more than six sexual assaults were reported on campus, during an annual reporting period.
