MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. (WCIV) -- The suspect in the murder of a Mount Pleasant couple in the Caribbean country of St. Maarten will go before a judge there Wednesday.

A spokesman for the prosecutor's office said the suspect - identified only by his initials, MKJ - will go before a judge, who will "check the lawfulness of his arrest and the prolongation of his custody."

Michael and Thelma King were found murdered inside their beachfront condominium Sept. 21. The suspect was arrested Sunday.

Also, the spokesman said, the bodies of the Kings were released to the family Tuesday.

The family released this statement:

"We are overwhelmed with the outpouring of support we've received over the past few days and want to express our sincere appreciation to everyone who has reached out to us with phone calls, emails, notes, flowers, meals and, most importantly, prayers. We know that Mike and Thelma touched the lives of so many people. We are truly grateful for the support and expressions of sympathy. We ask that you continue to pray for our family in the days ahead, and we ask the media to respectfully grant us privacy and time to grieve."

The spokesman said details of the autopsies conducted were discussed with family members but noted no details will be released.
