COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) -- Law officers across several agencies are teaming up to raise money for Special Olympics South Carolina.

Deputies from Richland and Lexington counties are going to Krispy Kreme Doughnuts in the Columbia and Lexington areas to raise money. Officers from agencies including the Columbia Police Department and the Bureau of Protective Services are also participating.

The fundraising effort runs through Friday. Donations go toward paying for training for local Special Olympics athletes, as well as their equipment and travel expenses.
