Man charged with abusing 1-year-old

BEAUFORT, S.C. (WCIV) -- A 23-year-old has been charged with child abuse after the 1-year-old in his care was taken to a Charleston hospital earlier this month.

According to investigators, the child's mother left the child in the care of Jarvis Favian Rogers on Sept. 17. When she arrived back at her home, the child was unresponsive, according to the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office.

The child's injuries were believed to be life-threatening, but a spokesperson for the sheriff's office said Wednesday the child has been released from MUSC and is expected to make a full recovery.
