CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) --  An official announcement came into the inboxes of WCIV employees station-wide Friday. Dave Williams has been named the Chief Meteorologist for ABC News 4.

As Chief Meteorologist, Dave will join ABC News 4 at 6 p.m., 7 p.m. and 11 p.m.

Meteorologist Tom Crawford will join ABC News 4's morning programs Good Morning Charleston and Lowcountry Live.  These changes will take effect on Monday, October 22, 2012.

"For the past 21 years I have had the pleasure and honor to work at WCIV ABC News 4, "said Crawford.  "That by the way is 21 years of working nights. I have requested to turn the Chief Meteorologist position over to Dave Williams. This has been granted by management. Dave will make a great chief."

"Tom is a class act and has been a great Chief Meteorologist for News 4," said ABC News 4 President and General Manager Suzanne Teagle.  "We are pleased that Tom will remain a part of the News 4 family, and we're excited to have Dave as our new Chief.  Dave lives and breathes weather.  He will be an asset to our station and the community."

Tom Crawford is a member of the Meteorological Society and has been awarded the Seal of Approval from the American Meteorological Society.  He was recognized as South Carolina's Best Weathercaster in 1998 and 1999 by the Associated Press.

Dave Williams is a member of the National Weather Association, The American Meteorological Society, and holds a Seal of Approval from the NWA.
