High school students get early start at athletic training workshop

Posted: Updated:

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) - High school students aspiring to be athletic trainers got an early start to their education on Saturday.

Trident Sports Medicine hosted it's 13th annual workshop at Charleston Southern University this morning.

CSU students worked with high schoolers from several schools around the Lowcountry to teach the kids training skills, but also apply what they have learned at CSU.

"These are kids that work in the athletic training program, take athletic training classes, who spend their Friday nights covering the football games and its a testament to them getting up on a Saturday morning to come out here," said Guy Walker with Trident Sports Medicine.

Walker said the workshop usually draws 30-40 students, but they had 57 come out this year.
