SCHP: SPD officer crashed cruiser into brick wall

SUMMERVILLE, S.C. (WCIV) -- A spokesperson with the South Carolina Highway Patrol has confirmed that a Summerville police officer crashed his cruiser and is being treated at the hospital.

Trooper Bob Beres says around 6:35 a.m., 54-year-old Officer John Rodriguez was turning from Bacons Bridge Road onto Trolly Road in his 2003 Crown Victoria when he hit a brick wall. 

Officer Rodriguez was transported to Summerville Medical Center.  The investigation is still under way and there is no word on what cause the accident.
