SUMMERVILLE, S.C. (WCIV) -- A lockdown ordered at Summerville High School early Wednesday afternoon has been lifted.

A spokeswoman for Dorchester District Two said the Summerville Police Department asked that the lockdown be put in place for the high school and Gregg Middle School as a precautionary measure "due to an investigation at nearby Somerset Apartments."

The lockdown at the schools lasted about 20 minutes, school district officials said.

The school district spokeswoman said police were investigating a break-in at the apartment complex.
