CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- Marion Lamont Brown Jr. entered a Charleston County Courtroom in chains.

But the man charged with kidnapping, rape and grand larceny left the courtroom to go to the hospital after suffering a seizure.

Brown, 22, is accused of carjacking a woman and raping her behind a vacant house in West Ashley last year.

In court Thursday, Brown was asked if he took any prescription medications. That's a standard question for defendants.

Brown responded that he suffers from grand mal seizures and takes medication to control them.

Minutes after an attorney for Brown entered a plea of guilty to the charges, Brown's body went stiff. He was having a seizure.

Solicitor Scarlett Wilson said the hearing will be rescheduled to ensure that Brown's alleged victim will have a chance to speak in court.

"But she's strong, and she's going to be fine and, hopefully, we can be there for her through this process and see this case through to the end," Wilson said.

A hearing date has not yet been scheduled.

Brown is currently serving a 12-year prison sentence from Georgia on charges of kidnapping and aggravated assault, an attorney for Brown said Thursday.
