CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) - Utility work has closed Bogard Street in downtown Charleston between the Crosstown and President Street.
The closure started Wednesday, September 26 at 7 a.m. according to city officials.
The closure was supposed to end by Friday, October 5 at 5 p.m. but will now end Oct. 15.
Officials say the delay is due to "unforeseen difficulties encountered due to utilities and unfavorable subsurface conditions during the repair of the sewer system at Bogard and Rosemont."
The section of Bogard street will be blocked 24 hours due to the extensive nature of the work.
Detours will be marked. Motorists are asked to use caution and be patient as they travel through the detour routes.
