(File photo/WCIV)MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. (WCIV) -- College basketball fans have about a month before teams take the court aboard the U.S.S. Yorktown.
The Carrier Classic is scheduled for Nov. 9. It will be shown on the NBC Sports network.
The men's game will feature Ohio State and Marquette, while the women's game pits Ohio State versus Notre Dame.
Supporters of the event say it's a great chance for Charleston - and Patriots Point - to be in the national spotlight.
The event is also a great way to thank U.S. veterans, organizers said Monday.
"Many of our warriors have been deployed now 6, 7, 8 times since 9-11," said Bill Anderson, former assistant secretary of the Air Force and an event organizer. "The work that they have becomes very tedious, and the opportunity to have a little taste of home is important for them."
