CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- The Lowcountry music scene is getting a boost.
That's because the Charleston Music Hall is getting an overhaul. The building on John Street has been around since 1850 and seats about a thousand people.
The hall draws top local music and performing groups, but administrators think they can do even better.
"We want to make it a living, breathing local communal space; really see more local people coming in.," said Charles Carmody, Charleston Music Hall administrator. "There is not a theatre like this down town. It's a listening room."
