CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- A lawsuit filed by a College of Charleston student accuses of a Columbia-area man of filming her having sex and then selling the video on the Internet.
The woman, identified in court documents as Jane Doe, says Harold R. Worthy III - also known as Tripp Worthy - took her to a nightclub in Columbia on New Year's Eve 2011, served her alcohol and then took her to his home in Cayce.
There, according to court documents, Worthy set up a video camera and filmed the woman having sex with him.
The resulting video was then marketed and sold on the Internet, according to court documents.
"As a direct result of the aforesaid conduct of the defendant, the plaintiff (Doe) has suffered, and continues to suffer, harm to her privacy in her private affairs, which has resulted in mental anguish, mental and emotional distress, mental suffering, humiliation, embarrassment and damage to her reputation," court documents state.
The woman is seeking unspecified damages. She has also filed court documents asking that the video be removed from the Internet.
According to the documents, the woman began communicating with Worthy through social media websites in December 2011. She enrolled as a student at CofC in August 2011.
