CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- Looking to make a few extra bucks this month?
Maybe AAA can help.
AAA Carolinas is holding its annual Great Fall Battery Roundup, an event that pays consumers for brining in old batteries to any one of eight AAA car care centers or 22 auto repair shops through Oct. 31.
The event pays $5 per battery returned.
"These batteries have contaminates in it," said AAA general manager Lori Jo Simmons. "And, of course they can cause stream and ground pollution. So, we really do need to clean up our areas and make sure that we get them back to being recycled properly."
AAA has recycled more than 15,000 batteries in the Carolinas in the past three years, officials said.
