Grand opening scheduled for Maybank Tennis Center - WCIV-TV | ABC News 4 - Charleston News, Sports, Weather

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- Charleston city officials have announced the grand opening and ribbon cutting for the newly renovated Maybank Tennis Center on James Island.

The new center will feature eight lighted, hard courts and three clay courts. Two additional clay courts were built using money raised by the Charleston Parks Conservancy.

According to the City of Charleston, all of the schools on James Island have teams that use the facility. Mayor Riley hopes the new center will help instill a love of the sports in those kids.

Renovations began on June 4. The grand opening is scheduled for Friday, October 19.
