NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) – Charleston County Council members gave a big "thank you" to industry leaders.

For the ninth year, Charleston County leaders held an annual industry appreciation event. This year's theme was "Sowing the Seeds".

Over 100 industry executives and elected officials gathered for lunch, in honor of industries that drive Charleston County's economic engine.

"Industry is our number one driver," said Teddie Pryor, chairman of Charleston County Council. "If you look at Boeing, look at the spin off from Boeing, look at the airline cluster, look at Trident Tech and the nursing program, I mean if you just look at the way things have been booming in the airline industry, we're just so happy that it happened here. "

The event was held at the Trident Technical Colleges Complex for Economic Development & Culinary Institute.

Speakers included Charleston County Administrator Kurt Taylor and Trident Technical College President Mart Thornley.
