Preparations underway for Komen's Race for the Cure

    MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. (WCIV) – Amber Heyward was a senior in high school when she lost her mother to breast cancer last year.  If anyone knows the power of the Lowcountry affiliate of Susan G. Komen, it's her.

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- With the big race just days away, organizers are releasing more details to make your race experience go smoothly.

The 19th Annual Susan G. Komen Lowcountry Race for the Cure kicks off at the Family Circle Cup Stadium on Daniel Island Saturday.

Race day shuttles to Daniel Island are available free of charge.

Shuttles from Tanger Outlets (Old Navy) and Towne Center (The Gap) begin at 6:15 a.m.

Important times to know:

  • 7:00 Am Expo, Sponsor Village And Survivor Tent Open
  • 8:00 Am Survivor Celebration
  • 8:30 Am Fun Run/Walk
  • 9:15 Am 5K Run Timed
  • 10:00 Am Awards Ceremony


The last shuttle leaving Daniel Island will be at 11:45am.
