NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- The line wrapped around the block as the Stand Down Against Homelessness event kicked off at Armory Park Thursday morning.
The Ralph H. VA Medical Center teamed up with Goodwill Industries of Lower South Carolina for the event, now in its 13th year.
The event offers homeless veterans in the Lowcountry the chance to get
free medical and dental screenings, clothing, food, haircuts and
counseling.
Last year, nearly 2,000 veterans were assisted through the program.
Stand Down Against Homelessness will be held
again at Armory Park in North Charleston Friday from 8 a.m. to 1
p.m. Lunch will also be served to attendees at noon.
