CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) - Hit-and-run suspect Philip Wucherer, who police say injured several children with his vehicle, waived his right to a preliminary hearing Friday morning.
Wucherer is accused of hitting four children with his car and driving away. The 22-year-old is charged with three counts of leaving the scene of a collision involving great bodily injury, and one count of leaving the scene of a collision involving personal injury according to police officials.
Investigators say the children were hit on August 25 around 11:30 p.m. Their parents tell us the kids snuck out of the house on Paddock Way, in a Sangaree subdivision to get access to WiFi for their phones.
Wucherer's bond was set at $600,000 back in August. If Wucherer makes bail he'll be confined to house arrest, as well as a GPS tracking device, and drug and alcohol testing.
According to a SLED background check, Phillip Wucherer has past charges of criminal domestic violence. He's also listed in the report as a convicted sex offender.
According to court papers, Wucherer was driving his mother's car during the hit-and-run. Investigators say it was her tip that led to his arrest.
