Posted: Updated:

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- Charleston police responded to the area of Rivers Avenue and Hanahan Road after reports came in that someone had been shot in the ankle.

Police say that around 11 p.m. Thursday night, the victim was walking east on the westbound side of Rivers Avenue near Hanahan when a dark colored vehicle passed by him.

The victim told police someone in the vehicle shouted something so he crossed Rivers Ave. and the vehicle turned around headed eastbound. That's when police say someone got out of a dark colored vehicle and began firing shots hitting the victim in the ankle.

Police say the victim was taken to Roper Northwoods with a non-life threatening injury and couldn't tell the police anything about the suspect.
