Prolonged pre-trial detention for 3 suspects in St. Maarten murder

Posted: Updated:

MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. (WCIV) - The three suspects in the murder of a Mount Pleasant couple face increased pre-trial detention.

Officials with the Saint Maarten Prosecutor's Office say the judges decision to extend pre-trial detention came on Thursday for the murder of Michael and Thelma King.

The first suspect, 28-year-old M.K.J., will serve 60 days of pre-trial detention.  The second term of eight days was ordered for 17-year-old J.C.M.  Last Monday, the third suspect J.J.W., faced his first 8-day term of pre-trial detention.

Prosecutors say they are still investigating all possible scenarios in the murder even though one suspect has admitted to direct involvement in the murder and the two other suspects admitted to being present on the crime scene.
