CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) – The candidates for the District
41 state Senate seat held a forum Tuesday afternoon.
The debate and town hall-style forum
was sponsored by the Rotary Club of Charleston and held at the Holiday Hall.
Democrat Paul Tinkler and Republican
Paul Thurmond are facing off for the hotly contested seat.
"Obviously, I'm for improving the
economy, improving our education system and a quality infrastructure. I want to
keep taxes low as we have done in the city of Charleston, and we've created the best city
in the world," Tinkler said.
Thurmond agreed that the economy and
education should be a focus.
"Finally, we need ethics reform," he
added,
The two candidates have had strongly
worded ads crossing the airwaves as the election cycle draws to a close.
Voters can cast their ballot Tuesday
in the general election.
