CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- While Hurricane Sandy did not have much of a direct effect on the Lowcountry, the storm did leave its mark locally.

Travelers trying to head north by flying from Charleston International Airport were grounded because of delays and cancellations up and down the East Coast. And because of that, local cab companies that are often busy taking travelers to the airport were slowed.

"Mondays, especially, we see a tremendous amount of airport traffic," said Tyler Hueter of Charleston Green Taxi.

Hueter said he sent some of his cabbies home because the business simply was not there.
