COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) -- Sex offenders on parole or probation in South Carolina are under a curfew again this Halloween.
The Department of Probation, Parole and Pardon Services says more than 900 sex offenders it monitors are under a curfew from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Wednesday.
The agency says offenders cannot host parties, attend carnivals, give out candy or even have their outdoor lights on during that time. Agents will call and drop by some offenders' houses on Halloween night to check in. In some areas, sex offenders are required to report to designated locations.
This is the sixth year paroled South Carolina sex offenders have had a Halloween curfew. Authorities say it's safe to let kids go door-to-door to trick-or-treat as long as they're supervised.
