NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- A group of four men stole one car and 10 guns Wednesday morning.

Guns & Gold Trading Post owner Thane Hollington said it looked like a planned job, as the criminals took five minutes to loot the store at 8983 University Blvd. Suite 104 in North Charleston.

The alarm probably scared them away before they could take more merchandise, he said.

"With gun laws the way they are its easy for people to sell on street. That's all it is, just cash. Everyone is poor right now and trying to make some money," Hollington said.

The vehicle was still running when authorities arrived, officials said.

Surveillance video showed four men drove a stolen Acura SUV into the store around 3 a.m.

The total cost of the guns - including semi-automatic handguns and a rifle - is $4,500. Hollington said it will hurt his bottom line.

"It's not like we're making a ton of money. We're barely getting by as it is," he said.

He believed the perpetrators would be caught soon.

"They know what's coming to them. When you steal a gun, it's armed robbery. You get extra time for that," he said.

Thoughts turned to the holiday season, with so much damage and merchandise gone.

"You want your properties to look as best as they can, especially going in to the shopping season. So it's sad," property manager Brent Case said.

"We're just getting advertisements, people just starting to hear about us. So it's a bad time for this to happen. But we'll figure it out. We don't have a choice," Hollington said.

While the front of the store is under construction, the store will remain open through the back door.

North Charleston police and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives are investigating.

A spokesman for the North Charleston Police Department said the vehicle used in the robbery was reported stolen from Dorchester County.
