RAVENEL, S.C. (WCIV) -- Charleston County officials are holding a ceremony Thursday afternoon to celebrate the completion of a paving project.
New Road - an evacuation route between Ravenel and Hollywood - was recently completed in southern Charleston County. Officials will hold a ceremony at 1 p.m.
The three-mile stretch between highways 17 and 162 is now paved. The work was funded by a transportation sales tax.
"A lot of support and help was behind this, from the entire community," said Ravenel Mayor Opal Baldwin. "It's just been a continuous. And we were fortunate enough to get it and we're delighted."
