NCDP investigate shooting at Rivers Ave in North Charleston

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- EMS has confirmed they are responding to a reported shooting at the intersection of Rivers Avenue and Dalton Street in North Charleston.

That's just south of the Mark Clark Expressway near Mall Drive.

According to the NCPD, officers responded to reports of a man being shot in the hip. The victim was taken to MUSC and police say they have a suspect in custody.

Officers report they met with the victim Kevin Nelson at Dalton Street and Rivers Avenue.  Nelson told police he was at 2019 Dalton Street, to deliver money to a person when he was shot.

Police say Nelson identified the shooter as Byron Waiters.  Waiters was arrested and charged with attempted murder.
