CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- Both Charleston and Berkeley counties were still counting absentee votes as the rest of the nation declared President Obama the winner of the election.

While the machine total for absentee votes were complete in Charleston County, paper ballots were still being scanned.

In Berkeley County, elections commissioners still had thousands of absentee ballots to count and planned to be at the elections office through the night because they have to report to the state commission.
