Veterans ride free on CARTA

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV)-- The Charleston Area Regional Transportation Authority is celebrating Veterans Day by offering free rides for active duty military and veterans November 11.

"We are honored to have active military and veterans ride CARTA every day," said Christine Wilkinson, CARTA Interim Executive Director. "Every year, we take Veterans Day to thank both our regular riders, as well as the entire military community, by providing transportation at no cost."

Veterans and active duty members may use CARTA's regular fixed route system, and the premium services such as CARTA Express and Route 402.

Passengers will need to present proper identification in order to obtain a free ride.

Examples of acceptable identification forms include:
• United States Uniformed Service ID card
• Veterans Administration card
• American Legion membership card
• VFW membership card
