More local Red Cross volunteers heading north

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- More volunteers from the Lowcountry are heading north to help out with Hurricane Sandy recovery efforts.

The American Red Cross Charleston SC Region will deploy nine disaster workers this weekend to New York and New Jersey. The volunteers will hand out relief supplies such as personal hygiene items.

By tomorrow, there will have been 28 Lowcountry disaster workers helping with the recovery effort, according to a news release from the local Red Cross chapter.
