According to the Charleston Police Department, the man was shot in "the facial area" on Lee Street about 12:15 p.m. The victim was taken to Medical University hospital, but police did not have any information on the victim's condition.

Police identified the victim as 18-year-old Tyrek Delray Varns.

Police said the suspect is described as a black male wearing a yellow construction vest and a red 59/fifty ball cap with black trim.

They are also looking for another man that was seen with the suspected shooter on Jackson St. near Sanders Clyde.

A photo of the two has been released. Both are described as tall and slender.
