John Tippett (Joe O'Neill/WCIV)
CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- Members of the Charleston Rotary Club honored a longtime Lowcountry firefighter Tuesday.
Charleston Deputy Fire Chief John Tippett was honored for his 38 years of fire and rescue service.
Tippett, who was a first responder at the Pentagon on 9/11, said he appreciated everyone who responded that day.
"The response to the Pentagon and all the other emergency responses that happened on 9/11 were made by thousands of emergency workers," he said. "I was just one small cog in that response."
Tippett has been with the Charleston Fire Department since 2009.
