
CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) – A patrol officer on a courtesy check Wednesday night stumbled on to a major marijuana grow operation.
According to police, the officer smelled marijuana coming from the Self Lighting Company on Ashley River Road and acquired a search warrant.
When police executed the warrant, they found 112 marijuana plants and about 234 grams of loose marijuana.
According to police, the building is being leased by 42-year-old Christopher Paul Durand, of Folly Beach. Police have a warrant for trafficking marijuana and are actively seeking him, they said.
