CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) - A fire and police training facility that will offer nationally accredited traning, opened in Mount Pleasant on Friday.
Mount Pleasant town leaders cut the ribbon on the new Burn Building, that was built on 19 acres of land.
The facility houses two burn rooms with thermal monitoring devices that will allow firefighters to train in real scenarios.
"They've got simulated burns both heat and smoke that gives the firemen an actual real life [fire]" said Mount Pleasant Councilman, Kenneth Glasson. "They can go into a facility and know what it's like to go into a burning building and deal with the smoke and inhalation and such."
