CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) - A College of Charleston student was killed and another injured on Sunday morning when they were hit by a car.

Charleston Police say the two girls were walking across the Crosstown on Meeting street around 2:30 a.m. when a Jeep hit them.

The Jeep did have the right-of-way on a green light, and remained on the scene of the accident, according to police.

The identity of the deceased student has not been released, but the coroner did say that the death was caused by the blunt force of impact.

The injured female was taken to MUSC with a broken ankle, police say.
