SC finally finishes certifying election results

Posted: Updated:

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) -- The State Election Commission has finally certified all of South Carolina's election results.

The commission met Monday and made Richland County's results official, 13 days after voters cast ballots. Commissioners certified results in the rest of the state last week.

An Election Day full of problems and a lawsuit meant Richland County didn't even finish counting its votes until Wednesday. Officials then found nearly 200 uncounted votes in several places in the county election office the next day.

Protests have been filed in three races across the state by challengers who lost to Rep. Ted Vick from Chesterfield, Sen. Clementa Pickney from Ridgeland and Sen. Shane Massey from Edgefield.
