Interstate traffic snarled by accident in Orangeburg

ORANGEBURG, S.C. (WCIV) – A serious accident on the westbound lanes of Interstate 26 near Orangeburg has traffic backed up for several miles.

The accident happened near mile marker 143 Wednesday afternoon.

Officials have not released information on the accident or any injuries.

According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol website, there were two accidents on I-26 westbound in the Orangeburg area within a couple miles of each other.

At 5 p.m., the SCHP website showed 85 incidents in the Charleston area zone.
