CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- Another Blood Battle is in the books.
And the outcome is a familiar one: University of South Carolina Gamecock fans have donated more blood to the local Red Cross than their Clemson University counterparts.
More than 700 pints of blood were donated, according to organizers. About 390 pints of blood game from people identifying themselves as Gamecock fans. Clemson fans donated 313 pints, organizers said.
"You know, I think people here in the Lowcountry are super passionate about being a Clemson fan or being a South Carolina fan," said Barbie Kolar of the Red Cross. "This is a way for them to showcase their passion in a way that is really really great for the community."
South Carolina has bested Clemson eight of the 10 years the Blood Battle has been held.
