Dozens homeless following North Charleston fire

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) - Firefighters battled an apartment fire off Rivers Avenue in North Charleston Monday.

The fire was at the Delta Oaks apartment building near the intersection of Russelldale Avenue and Rebecca Street.

North Charleston Fire Department spokeswoman Bianca Sancic said 14 units were significantly damaged and at least nine families have been affected.

According to officials, no one was in the apartment building at the time of the fire and no one was injured.

The Red Cross is assisting families who have been displaced by the fire.

Sancic said one dog was saved from the burning building.

Fire crews from North Charleston, Charleston, St. Andrews, and St. John's Fire Department fought the fire.
