WEST ASHLEY, S.C. (WCIV) -- It was a holiday miracle a few weeks early.

Latashia Deas went to the mall Tuesday to buy some Christmas presents for her daughter. She left with some bottles of lotion and a new feeling.

"This has really uplifted my spirits for the holiday season. I just loved it. Thank you so much," Deas said.

The Citadel Mall participated in "Giving Tuesday," a day filled with random acts of kindness. Employee Leigh Burnett surprised shoppers like Deas.

"It's about giving in general. When you think about the things you can do for people that don't come in a box with wrapping paper, that are just as meaningful," Burnett said.

Deas said she avoided Black Friday shopping so she could come at a quieter time, and it's a good thing she did.

"Thank you so much. I don't want to cry, but oh goodness, thank you so much. This has never happened to me before. So thank you," Deas said.

Then Deas got to spread some holiday cheer of her own.

"Now I can probably get someone else a gift with the money you guys saved me. I really appreciate it," she said.

She said she couldn't wait until Christmas to share what happened with her daughter.
