NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- The Red Cross has announced that they are closing down the temporary shelter at the Mt. Moriah Baptist Church for victims of the Delta Oaks Apartment fire Wednesday morning.
Since the massive fire displaced around 35 to 40 people and left many people homeless Monday, the Red Cross has provided meals, shelter and financial assistance to those affected.
"We will be working with these families on a case-by-case basis to provide funds to replace food and clothing lost in the fire as well as referrals to Red Cross partner agencies for assistance in long-term recovery," the organization said in a statement Wednesday.
According to the Red Cross, only four of the victims stayed at the shelter for two nights. The others, they say, stayed with family and friends.
According to North Charleston Fire Department officials, no one was in the apartment building at the time of the fire and no one was injured.
