MONCKS CORNER, S.C. (WCIV) -- Police and deputies from Moncks Corner responded to a shooting Wednesday afternoon.

Deputies responded to the Department of Social Services office in Moncks Corner after receiving reports of a shooting. Forensic officers on the scene said that was the only location that had to do with the shooting.

The man who was wounded was taken by medical helicopter to a Charleston hospital.

Investigators determined that the victim met with another man in the "41" section of the county, between Bonneau and St. Stephen for an apparent drug deal. The men got into an altercation and the victim fled. The person officers believe to be the shooter followed and shot into the vehicle, wounding the man, deputies said.

According to deputies, a friend of the victim drove the car to Belt Drive, near the DSS building. So far, officials have not made any arrests.
