NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) - Police arrested two people and charged them with Tuesday's robbery of a North Charleston hotel.
According to police, Marisa Jackson and Joshua Ekpunobi were arrested. During the investigation, police learned that Jackson, who is an employee of the hotel, set up and drove Ekpunobi to the crime, officials said.
Jackson was charged with robbery and Ekpunobi was charged with robbery and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime.
According to the police report, a man with a mask covering his face entered the Clarion Hotel on Dorchester Road and demanded access to the safe.
"Just chill, man. Give me the money and safe," he reportedly said.
When the robber could not lift the safe, he used a bellman's cart to wheel the safe out the front door, the report states.
A day later, police found Ekpunobi in the Appian Way Apartments. During a search of Ekpunobi's apartment, police found a large gray safe concealed with clothes.
Jackson and Ekpunobi are expected to have bond hearings at 2 p.m. Thursday, police said.
