Charleston deputy hospitalized after car accident - WCIV-TV | ABC News 4 - Charleston News, Sports, Weather

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- A single-vehicle accident put one Charleston County Sheriff's deputy in the hospital and has the state Highway Patrol investigating the incident. 

According to a statement from Major Jim Brady, the accident happened around 6 a.m. Friday on Highway 174 near Pine Landing Road. The deputy was ending his shift,  Brady said. 

The deputy was airlifted from the scene with serious injuries, Brady said. Those injuries are not expected to be life-threatening, though.
