NCFD officials: Kitchen fire started Delta Oaks Apartments blaze

Posted: Updated:

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) - After a complete investigation, North Charleston Fire Department officials say the Delta Oaks Apartment fire began in the kitchen of apartment 212.

The investigation did not reveal the specific cause of the fire.

The Monday night fire destroyed most of the second floor of the apartment complex and displaced several families.

Rivers Avenue was closed to traffic as firefighters battled the blaze.

Bianca Sancic with the NCFD reminds everyone that cooking is the most common cause of fire in the United States and precautions should be taken.
