Charleston, S.C. (WCIV) -- In bond court, 52-year-old Reid Brown stood silent as he was charged with manufacturing methamphetamines.
The judge set bond at $100,000, calling the offense serious and violent. According to court documents, Brown admitted to Charleston County Sheriff's detectives that he made meth to sell because he could not get a job, because of a previous meth-related felony.
Detectives also found multiple ingredients used to cook meth like pseudoephedrine, muriatic acid and hydrogen peroxide. Yellow crime tape was still tied to trees in front of Brown's house on Sunday evening.
Neighbors said they hope the cleanup will continue.
"There is a big drug problem in the area and I guess Charleston County finally decided to do something about it, but that was only a drop in the bucket," said Raymond McCall, a neighbor of Brown's for the past 30 years.
McCall said he's watched drug activity increase.
"There's elderly people, there's kids involved and it just shouldn't happen. It shouldn't happen at all," said McCall.
McCall said he was glad to see an arrest was made. He hopes there will be more.
