Gas leak briefly shuts down main downtown Charleston roadway

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- Police had to shut down a main downtown Charleston thoroughfare due to a gas leak Monday afternoon.

The roadway was reopened around 6:30 p.m., according to police.

Meeting Street between Columbus and Wolfe streets was shut down due to the leak. Police said the leak was reported shortly after 3 p.m.
