Suspicious fire in Dorchester County under investigation

SUMMERVILLE, S.C. (WCIV)-- The Dorchester County Sheriff's Office is investigating an early morning fire that gutted a Summerville home.

Fire officials said flames sparked inside the home at 107 Pine Lane shortly after 1:00 a.m. Tuesday.

Crime scene tape now surrounds the burnt out structure.

No one was injured in the blaze but the interior structure and the roof suffered extensive damage.

Old Fort Fire Department Firefighters were able to contain the fire quickly and prevented it from spreading to neighboring homes.

"When we arrived flames were shooting out of the roof. Old Fort Fire's Assistant Chief said."It was definitely suspicious.

Fire officials refused to go into further detail turned the investigation over to the sheriff's office.
