NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- One person is hospitalized after a Cadillac crashed underneath a tractor trailer truck Thursday morning.

The accident happened just before 7 a.m. at Rourk and Azalea Drive in North Charleston.

The driver was trapped inside the vehicle while North Charleston firefighters, police and EMS responded.

The driver, an elder African American male, was pulled out of his car and placed on a stretcher and taken into an ambulance where he was then transported to a hospital.

Officials with the NCPD tell us the truck was turning from Rourk onto Azalea when the wreck happened. They also say the driver of the Cadillac was treated for minor injuries and the truck driver was cited for failure to yield.

Traffic was diverted on Azalea Drive in North Charleston due to the accident.
