NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- South Carolina Law Enforcement Division agents have arrested the former executive director of the North Charleston Housing Authority.

George Luis Saldana, 58, is charged with embezzlement and faces up to five years in prison if found guilty.

According to the affidavit, from April 2007 to May 2011, public funds were used via a NCHA Visa credit card on numerous occasions and used to buy gas on personal trips taken by Saldana in  four different states.

The affidavit also says Saldana used the card to buy gas and other items while on vacation, on sick leave, on weekends and other times he wasn't performing official duties and that he admitted to using a NCHA vehicle and the Visa for personal use.

The affidavit lists the total taken over four years as adding up to $6558.04.

His bond was set at $10,000.
